A container terminal in Hamburg

Project

Our client is expanding the annual handling capacity of its container terminals to more than 2 million TEUs. As part of the expansion project, the optimisation of the maintenance capacity is required. A new terminal workshop is needed to ensure the timely maintenance and quick repair of cargo handling equipment such as straddle carriers, spreader, quay cranes, as well as the rail und storage gantry cranes. For the move into the new terminal workshop, the optimal logistical processes are to be defined and implemented. In this context HPMport was contracted to

  • plan a service-oriented layout of the spare parts storage,
  • design and introduce the sustainable and efficient processes and IT systems for the workshop,
  • develop a safe and fast identification system of spare parts and
  • realise the smooth relocation and commissioning of the new terminal workshop.
